Children North East Sand Castle Challenge 2019

Last Friday, 6th July, we kept up our annual tradition and took part in Children North East's Annual Sand Castle Challenge and what a day it was.

The Sand Castle challenge is run by a local North East Charity, Children North East, and it gathers local schools together to take part and compete in building the most impressive sand castle sculptures. This year's theme was 'Build a New World' and we were partnered with St. Anne's Catholic School in Gateshead. We took a visit to the school and had a chat with the children about their big ideas for the day.

Thankfully, we were met with sunshine and warm temperatures on the day of the competition and everyone got stuck in and took part in coming together and producing 3 incredibly creative designs in the sand. The children had all focused their ideas on recycling and how to make the world a better place and we were glad we could help them out.

Although we weren't the winners of the overall competition, everyone involved had a thoroughly enjoyable day and we can't wait to keep up our tradition and attend next year's Sand Castle Challenge!
