We've put together a few tips to hopefully see you on the way and make sure you're securing your trusted tradesman title.
Firstly, ensure you are a member of websites such as CheckATrade and TrustATrader, as this is the first place customers will look to hire a tradesperson if they do not know where to start. These websites are reliable as you are required to prove your trade qualifications and membership of any trade associations in order to join the service; you are also required to have public liability insurance to be able to apply for the membership. However, if you do not meet the requirements of the website then you will not be listed, so make sure you have the correct certification and insurance before applying.
Make sure you are found online! Customers may avoid trades people who are not found online as they may not appear to be genuine. Although, you don't need to invest in a website in order to be found online, you could create a Facebook page for your business where customers can check out your latest work and even see reviews from previous customers. If you're stuck then look at our previous blog post: Marketing Tips for Trades People for some ideas to help you get started.
Tradespeople can even provide references to potential customers to highlight that you are trusted and reliable. A good way to provide a reference is to show 2 or 3 recent examples of similar work you have done before. You could even point the customer in the direction of your website/Facebook page so the potential customer can see your reviews from previous customers and other work you have completed. Additionally this is another reason why it is good to have your business online!
