Read our 4 tips on how to reduce and manage waste on site.

1. Plan Ahead
Planning ahead is crucial in order to reduce waste and will also cut costs by using materials more effectively. Taking note of any stock on site will prevent you from overordering materials that you already have. Always measure to make sure you have the exact amount of material, and only order what you need to avoid any unnecessary leftovers.

2. Reduce Packaging
You can reduce the amount of packaging you have on site by purchasing your materials in bulk. You may also be able to donate any unwanted packaging such as tubs, barrels and buckets to local organisations such as schools, community groups etc.

3. Reuse and Recycle
Conduct regular material checks to identify if any materials can be reused, and those that can’t either recycle or donate to local organisations. Make sure you have a recycling system on site and educate your workers on how to re-use and recycle, using a recycling bin will reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.

4. Choose Suppliers Carefully
You can differentiate your business from your competitors by working on becoming a 'green' builder. If your company has sustainability goals in mind you might want to choose suppliers who can support and help achieve your goals.
