Say hello to one of our HGV Drivers, Kingsley Ruddy

We'd like to introduce you to one of our newest team members who has joined the team as a class 2 HGV Driver at our Ossett branch. Say hello to, Kingsley Ruddy. Have a read below to find out a little bit more about him and what a day in his life as part of the James Burrell team entails.

What is your job role?

I'm a class 2 HGV with lorry mounted crane driver.

What does a normal day in the role involve?

First things first and that's to do the daily checks on my vehicle, check the load and make it secure. Then off to deliver building materials around Yorkshire using the lorry mounted crane. One all deliveries are done I will head back to the yard in Ossett and load back up with more materials to be delivered for another run.

A bit of an insight on your career so far, have you worked in construction before? If not, what did you do prior to joining James Burrell?

Before I came to work for James Burrell I worked for Buildbase at Mexborough in South Yorkshire for 2 years, basically doing the same thing as I do now. Before that I was in general haulage transporting anything and everything, also using a lorry mounted crane.

What is your favourite thing about the company so far?

The hours are sociable and no weekends is great as I can plan something to do every weekend now which is a massive bonus from my previous jobs as I am quite a busy person and love to get out and about when I can.

What does your perfect weekend look like?

I'm a motorcyclist and I love to get out with my partner as she also rides. If we aren't on the bikes, we like to take the campervan out for a couple of days and hike up some mountains or run across some ridges. With either one I can travel to a lovely relaxing place to have a nice cup of coffee and a sandwich.
