A year in our Rotherham branch

Our Rotherham branch has just recently celebrated its first official year of trading. After joining the James Burrell family as the 10th branch, it became our first in South Yorkshire allowing us to extend our services and reach throughout Yorkshire.

The branch has been driven from strength to strength over the last year, increasing their fleet in order to meet the local demand. The success of the branch has not just been internal. The responsibility of our branches in their communities is a core value and we've been delighted to help so many local causes over our first year of trading.

Let's take a look at some of the local associations we've been able to help over our first year in South Yorkshire...

We ran an online competition which began with people nominating local causes which were close to their heart. Those nominations were then put forward to an online public vote with the winner receiving £250 worth of building materials. We were overwhelmed by the response and, of course, we couldn't just have one winner. We had 3 worthy runners up who all received a £100 building material donation. Let's take a look...

Rain Rescue

After astounding public support, Rain Rescue took the top spot and received our £250 donation of building materials.

Rain Rescue are a funded animal shelter in Rotherham and they rely on the generosity of the public to enable them to continue to provide the care and support that they do. Our donation enabled them to continue with the addition of new buildings so they can provide much needed care and attention to even more animals.

Frickley AFC

Frickley AFC was one of our much desered runners up. Again, relying on the support of their fans, they need donations to allow them to continually develop as a club in the local area. After recent vandilisation, we were delighted to be able to supply them with £100 worth of building materials to allow them to make the changes they needed to update the club.

Community Connect

Community Connect was another runner up in the competition and we couldn't leave them out, they also received a £100 building material donation. They are a social enterprise group for adults with learning disabilities and they provide support to those living in the are. Our donation allowed them to move forward with their newest project of developing their piece of land into a sensory garden. A huge asset to provide a safe and secure environment for those who attend.

Rotherham Hospice

The final local cause who received a £100 donation of building materials was Rotherham Hospice, a local hospice which provides specialist care and education services to enhance quality of life. They provide amazing support to those within the community who need it, including support groups for families, friends and carers. The donations they receive allow them to further expand and open their services to more people.

Rotherham Community Awards

At the beginning of the year we were happy to announce that we would be sponsoring the Rotherham Advertiser Awards. We were proud to be a part of a prestigious awards ceremony in the local area which allowed those to shine who had gone above and beyond the call of duty to selflessly help out others.

In just one year we've been able to support so many local causes to enable them to make continual additions and improvements to the services so they can continue to help and support the local residents of Rotherham. Let's see where we are at our second anniversary.
